The College for Financial Planning is pleased to announce a new Master’s Degree—Master of Science Degree in Finance (M.S.F.). As a student currently enrolled in our Master of Science Degree Program with a major in Finance or Financial Analysis, you have the option to either complete your current degree (M.S.) and major or change your degree to the new Master of Science Degree in Finance (M.S.F.).

Why should you make the change?
The M.S.F. will help better differentiate you in the field of finance. For FA students, the CFA Institute's Body of Knowledge is generally considered to be part of the M.S.F.'s body of knowledge.

Other institutions that offer the M.S.F. include MIT, Princeton University, Boston College, and Johns Hopkins University. So, changing to the M.S.F. degree puts you in excellent company.

"I strongly encourage all finance and financial analysis major students move to the new M.S.F. degree. The College implemented this new degree because we feel it is in the best interest of our students, as they prepare to compete in the challenging and exciting global economy, to earn an M.S.F. degree." Dr. Kurt L Miller, Professor and Chair, Graduate Degree Programs.

To Change Your Degree to the New Master of Science Degree in Finance (M.S.F.): If you would like to change your Master’s Degree program to the new Master of Science Degree in Finance (M.S.F.) program we must receive a written request from you by mail, fax, or email no later than June 30, 2009, to the attention of the Registrar. Changing your degree selection does not alter the degree requirements in effect at the time of your original program matriculation. You will not be required to complete any additional Master of Science Degree courses. This change will only affect the title of the degree listed on your diploma.

To Continue Your Current Degree and Major: If you would like to complete the major you are currently enrolled in (Master of Science Degree with a major in Finance or Financial Analysis), we must receive a written request from you by mail, fax, or email no later than June 30, 2009, to the attention of the Registrar.
