Personal Financial Planning Courses Updated In August 2006, the College introduced changes to courses MSTR 1101-1105 in the Personal Financial Planning degree. These five courses will be expanded to seven courses, providing more time for MSTR 1101, 1104, and 1105 course materials. Here are the changes that affect current students: How PFP Courses Transfer Over for Current Students The following information is in reference to all students who have already completed courses toward the PFP major. If you have completed MSTR 1101-1105, you will not be affected. However, if you have currently completed only a portion of the requirements, this will affect you, but will not increase your degree requirements. Many students will not be required to take an elective because of the degree changes.
For PFP students matriculating October 17, 2006, the required sequence of the program will look as follows: PFP COURSES FOR ALL NEWLY ENROLLED STUDENTS If the student is not transferring any courses, he or she will need to complete the following (zero electives):
COM 500 Communication & Research Techniques If a new student is transferring College for Financial Planning (CFP) courses into the MS program: CFP legacies: CFP legacies will receive credit for PFP 513, 514, 515, and 516. PFP 510, 511, and 512 will be waived and he or she will need to take three electives to replace those courses. CFP® certificants (non-legacies): CFP® certificants will have PFP 510-516 waived and students will need to take seven electives to replace those courses. Module Prices Pricing for the PFP 510-516 modules will be as follows:
PFP 510: $65 Modules will be required effective the October 2006 session. These costs do not include other required textbooks. PFP 511 and PFP 516 will not be offered until January 2007. Exam Schedules PFP 511-514 and PFP 516 courses incorporate a CFPE final examination as part of direct assessment. Students of these courses will take the examination during the final week of the course; it is proctored and taken online. The intent of this direct assessment is to measure the student's mastery of the learning objectives using a successful assessment tool. This is the same examination that the College's self-study and mentor students take; it should allow you to get a "feel" for the CFP® Certification Examination. Each examination is worth 100 points. The courses will contain the following:
CFPE 1101 - PFP 511 will cover PFP 510 and PFP 511 module learning objectives If you have any questions about these changes, please contact the Academic Counselor, Ms. Viviane Price at Viviane.Price@apollogrp.edu, your enrollment counselor at 800.237.9990, option 3, or send an e-mail message to cffpenrollment@apollogrp.edu.
